The 2nd National Animal Rights Day (NARD2) was held on Sunday June 3, 2012, in Union Square, New York City. The event started with a requiem ceremony commemorating the billions of animals who die every year in the US by the hands of humans. The Declaration of Animal Rights (now measuring 50 feet long) was read publicly and signed by the attending crowd. The second part of the day celebrated the alternatives that already exist to this sad reality, and it included a yoga session led by world-renown Jivamukti Yoga teachers Jessica Sage Stickler and Dechen Thurman, to generate compassion for all beings, plant-based food, live music, drum circles, street theatre, Capoeira, and more:
